The Service
This service is aimed at preserving numbers for customers who are not able to use their MTN Number for a long period to avoid having them recycled.
As per UCC requirements, any inactive MSISDN is automatically recycled after 270 days and issued to another user.
This proposition meets the demands of the customer categories below:
- The travelers out of the country.
- Participants in international studies abroad.
- Occupational travelers, e.g., training and skills building, e.g., technical practitioners (nurses, doctors, technology), professional training, economic migrants, deployments (army, police, security, NGO personnel), etc.
- Customers with dual citizenship that stay out of Uganda for long periods.
Eligibility
This Service is open to only pre-paid customers since the reserving funds need to be paid for upfront.

Business Rules
- The existing GSM and MoMo SIM recycling rules will apply.
- Customers can subscribe for the Keep My Number service via *165#, USSD 160/100, myMTN/ MoMo App, MTN Website, CEX GUI (assisted channel)
- Validity of the service is restricted to the paid for duration i.e., 6 months,1 year and 2 years.
- Customer should also be able to subscribe for “Keep My Number” for other numbers (Pay for Other option) Both Paying A-number and the payee number B are informed about the payment.
- No refund is given if one deactivates the service before the due date.
- If the customer has a valid subscription for Keep My number, their number MUST NOT be recycled for 270 days from the timestamp of the last payment for the service.
- Any other RGS transaction the customer initiates after their last successful recurring debit will extend the customer’s RGS window status by another 270 days.
- No grace period will be given for a customer with no valid subscription payment or subscription.
Warranties and Disclaimers
- MTN may in their sole discretion amend these terms and conditions at any time, or terminate the Keep My Number service altogether, without notice.
- MTN may in its sole discretion amend fees charged from time to time and the amendments thereto shall take effect as communicated by MTN.
- MTN’s decision is final in matters relating to the Keep My Number. No correspondence will be entered into once the bundles are legitimately purchased and provided.
- MTN will support the communication of the Keep My Number service with marketing support at the points of sale, in the digital and online environment as well as out-of-home assets.
- Any additional products or services not included in the offered value proposition but required by the customer for fulfilling a desired user experience, will need to be arranged and paid for separately.
- MTN will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with the Keep My Number, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
- Subject to confirmation, the Keep My Number cannot necessarily be used in conjunction with any other existing promotions or products.
