1. What is the Keep My Number Service
This service is aimed at preserving numbers for customers who are not able to use their MTN Number for a long period to avoid having them recycled.
As per UCC requirements, any inactive MSISDN is automatically recycled after 270 days and issued to another user.
This proposition meets the demands of the customer categories below:
- The travelers out of the country.
- Participants in international studies abroad.
- Occupational travelers, e.g., training and skills building, e.g., technical practitioners (nurses, doctors, technology), professional training, economic migrants, deployments (army, police, security, NGO personnel), etc.
- Customers with dual citizenship that stay out of Uganda for long periods.
2. What are the benefits of this service?
This proposition meets the demands of the customer categories below:

3. Who is Eligible for this service?
This service is available for only pre-paid customers as it requires the customer to make the payment upfront.
4. What packages are available for the Keep My Number?
The product is tiered and has 3 classes as highlighted below all of which are valid for 30 days.

5. How can I subscribe for this service?
Customers can use *165#, USSD 160/100, myMTN/ MoMo App, MTN Website
6. How many subscriptions can I have?
A customer can only have 1 subscription at a time.
7. What happens if the subscription expires?
The number becomes inactive and is at risk of being recycled if no top up is done within the next 270 days.
8. What happens if a customer doesn’t utilize the allocated data and voice resources?
The allocated data and voice expire upon expiration of the paid for duration.
9. Can I be refunded in case I deactivate the service before the paid for duration?
No, customers cannot claim for a refund if the deactivate the service before the whole duration elapses.
10. Can I pay for this service on behalf of another number?
Yes, MTN customers can pay for this service on behalf of another number.
