What is MTN PRI ISDN?
MTN PRI ISDN provides fixed lines with multiple voice channels for the business with a high volume of voice calls.
The Primary Rate Interface (PRI) is a physical connection between your business’s internal phone system or PBX and our fixed line switch, which enables you to route calls from your business through our network. The setup requires that all your office extensions connect to your PBX, into which one or more PRI lines terminate.
How many voice channels make up one PRI line?
Each PRI line, also referred to as an E1, provides up to 30 voice channels that enable you and your staff to make up to 30 calls through your PRI line simultaneously.
How many PRI lines do I need to connect more than one business location?
If you have several office locations, each of your locations needs one PRI line. Depending on the needs at each location, it is possible to activate less than 30 channels on the PRI line. In general, the number of voice channels you need on each PRI line depends on your requirements as a business.
In addition, it is possible to have more than 1 PRI line at a single location. This is dependent on the number of simultaneous calls you need to be able to make from that location.
Which businesses would require the MTN PRI ISDN?
Any business that has a high volume of calls and would like to be able to make several calls outside the organization from the same number simultaneously would require a PRI line.
What is the difference between MTN PRI ISDN and MTN SIP Trunking?
While both services provide multiple voice channels, a SIP Trunk requires an IP connection (Internet or data connection) and must connect to an IP-PBX.
What are the charges for MTN PRI ISDN?
Outgoing calls on MTN PRI ISDN are charged at fixed line rates. In addition, there is a fixed monthly rental charge per voice channel.
