How can I participate?
MoSente is only available to MTN MoMo customers. Qualifying
for a loan depends on the following criteria:
- You must be above the age of 18.
- You must have been an MTN MoMo customer and have taken more than 6 MoSente loans
- You must have an active MoMo account and be a
frequent user of mobile money.
Qualifying for a MoSente instalment loan depends on active use of MTN services like airtime, data, SMS, bill payments,MoMo transactions and at least taken 6+ MoSente short term loans. You will get an SMS when you qualify. To qualify in future, use more MTN services and MoMo transactions.
How much can I get?
MoSente offers loans from 1,000 for customers who have never
taken a loan before. How much you can get depends on how
you use your MoMo account and how you use other MTN
services like airtime, data and SMS.
How do I repay the loan?
Simply deposit the right amount into your mobile money account before the due date. Dial *165 # 5. Savings & Loans, choose 5. MoSente menu. Choose the “Repay loan” option and enter the amount you would like to repay.
How do I check my loan balance?
Dial *165#, select 5 for Savings & Loans, 5 for MoSente Loans and
3 for Check Loan Balance.
Do I need a Savings Account?
No, not at all. You only need an active mobile money account.
How many loans can I get?
You can only have one loan at a time, but once you’ve paid your loan you can qualify for another loan. Your next loan could be bigger, if you pay on time and use your MoMo Account and other MTN services like airtime, data and SMS.
What is the duration of the loan?
You can get loans for 60 days payable in equal instalments at 30 and 60 Days. To pay early, dial *165# and select 2 for “Repay Loan”. You can then choose whether you want to pay the whole loan, or only part of the loan.If not paid, the payment will be taken out of your MoMo Account at the end of the instalment term you chose.
How much does a MoSente loan cost?
The Initiation fee: 8.5% and Interest Fee per 30 days : 2%. Therefore the Total price within 30 days is 10.5% and the Total price of 60 Day multi instalment loan is 12.5% depending on the loan term selected. You will be shown how much your fee will be before you take the loan.
What if I pay late?
If you do not pay your loan on the due date you will have to pay a 12.5% Late Payment fee on the money you haven’t paid for that particular instalment. You will get SMSes to remind you to pay before the due date. If you pay late your next loan may be smaller, and if you often pay your loans late you could be removed from the loan service.
What if I want to repay early?
To pay early, dial *165# and choose 5 for Savings & Loans, 5 for MoSente and select 2 for “Repay Loan”. You can then choose whether you want to pay the whole loan, or only part of the loan and enter your PIN to confirm.
How do I qualify for a bigger loan amount?
Use your MTN Mobile money wallet to pay and transfer often, and make sure you repay your loans on time. The loan amounts you get are decided by your use of MTN services like airtime, data, SMS, bill payments and MTN Mobile Money transactions and by looking at whether you repay your loans on time, every time.
Why would my loan amount get smaller?
If you’ve paid one of your instalments late, or if you’re using MoMo or other MTN services less than you used to.
